Homework Folder: Your child has a homework folder. Inside of the folder is a pencil pouch. Please zip any notes or money (field trips, lunch, etc) into this pouch. I will be checking this folder daily and it is the best way to get notes to me. The pouches should be returned to me at the end of the year.
Reading: As your child develops as a reader, practice is SO important. Your child will have a leveled reader in his/her folder each night. Please allow your child to read the book to you and answer the questions you ask in his/her journal. There is a list of questions you can adapt to the book your child is reading in the homework folder. He/She has a reading log stapled in the front pocket of the folder to track the books read. On Wednesdays, instead of doing the five sentences for Letter Land, you can ask your child a question and have him/her respond in written form in the homework journal. Please look for a thorough response that is in a complete sentence.
Letter Land: Students will have Letter Land homework each night. The first night, students should read the circled groups 2 times to an adult. The adult should then sign the list at the bottom. The second day, students should do Look, Say, Cover, Write. The third day, students should write five sentences using words from the list. The fourth day, students should do a practice test with the circled word groups from the list.
